Consultation with the Health Minister underway

Last week the AMA welcomed the decision by the new Health Minister, the Hon Sussan Ley MP, to abandon proposed changes to Level B MBS items and commit to proper consultation with GPs on Government policies. This followed strong AMA advocacy. 

AMA President, A/Prof Brian Owler, met with the Minister this week to as part of this process. The AMA is impressing upon the Minister the need to strengthen and support general practice and to abandon other planned cuts to funding for GP services.
