AMA President meets with Minister Hunt
AMA President, Dr Michael Gannon, had his first meeting with new Health Minister Greg Hunt last week, at the Commonwealth Parliamentary Offices in Melbourne.
Dr Gannon said the meeting was productive, and covered all the areas raised in the AMA’s Pre-Budget Submission.
“We talked about priorities in the health system - GPs, pathology, hospital funding, private health insurance, preventive health, and of course ending the Medicare freeze,” Dr Gannon said.
While in Melbourne, Dr Gannon also met again with Shadow Health Minister Catherine King, and with Opposition Leader Bill Shorten the following day in Perth.
