Commonwealth Department of Health considering Paid Parental Leave for GPs in Training

The Commonwealth Department of Health has advised the General Practice Training Advisory Committee (GPTAC) that the Department is considering significant reform within the Australian General Practice Training (AGPT) program.

The AMA is unable to comment on details, however is pleased that reform to Paid Parental Leave is being discussed as an opportunity to bring General Practice training entitlements more closely aligned with other non-community based training fields.

The AMA continues to work with the Commonwealth Department of Health to progress its vision toward a Single Employer Model (SEM).
