AMA NSW Hospital Health Check

AMA (NSW)’s Doctors-in-Training Committee is excited to announce the launch of our 2021 Hospital Health Check survey. What you say matters, and you can take the survey here.

This year’s focus will be doctor wellbeing, as well as reporting on bullying, access to leave, rostering and overtime. The HHC survey plays an integral part of AMA (NSW)’s advocacy for DITs and has resulted in significant change at both the individual hospital level and across the State.

A recent win for NSW DITs is the change to paid parental leave. From 1 July 2021, DITs are eligible to take 14 weeks paid parental leave in the first 12 months of their child’s life. The new policy allows both parents to take two weeks concurrently at the time of birth, adoption, or surrogacy and up to 12 weeks separately to assume primary care duties.

The NSW DITC is also focused on supporting members through the COVID-19 outbreak in Greater Sydney. The DITC has looked at the COVID-19 response across hospitals and what measures are in place to protect staff.
