Congratulations Dr Andrew Mulcahy AM
AMA Tasmania congratulates Dr Andrew Mulcahy AM on being appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to medical administration and anaesthesia.
Dr Mulcahy has made a major contribution to medical regulation through his work with the Medical Board of Australia and the Tasmanian Medical Board, alongside a long career as a specialist anaesthetist in Hobart. Through this work, he has tried to make what can often be a complex and intimidating system more accessible and less daunting for doctors to navigate.
In addition to his regulatory work and clinical career, Dr Mulcahy has contributed to the medical profession in Tasmania and nationally over many decades, including through his long-standing involvement with the Australian Medical Association (AMA).
AMA Tasmania President Dr Michael Lumsden-Steel said the honour recognised a lifetime of service.
“Dr Andrew Mulcahy AM has given outstanding service to medicine, to the profession and to AMA over many years,” Dr Lumsden-Steel said.
“This is fitting recognition of a lifetime of contribution. That kind of sustained service over so many decades is becoming rarer, and it deserves to be recognised and celebrated.”>>>ENDS
