Changes are coming
The Federal Government’s new bulk billing incentives are due to take effect next Saturday. To help members navigate the changes, the AMA has developed an online fact sheet.
Remember, you don’t need to change your billing model overnight if you don't want to. It is critical for practices to make their own assessments. The government has developed an online calculator to assist.
Significant changes to the Better Access initiative will also take effect next Saturday, changing how general practices deliver mental healthcare. These changes include: removal of the GP Mental Health Treatment Plan and mental health consultation items, and transition to using general attendance items for reviewing and providing mental healthcare.
You can learn more about the Better Access changes on the department website and MBS Online. Further information about how to manage these changes and continue delivering high-quality care to your patients, is available online from Cubiko.
Other changes taking effect on 1 November include increased MBS rebates to improve access to affordable IUDs and birth control implants for women.
