AMA Submission on the Streamlining and Expansion of RPGP and Procedural PIP

8 Oct 2021

The AMA Submission in response to the Healthcare Management Advisors (HMA) Consultation Paper 1 on the streamlining and expansion of the Rural Procedural Grants Program (RPGP) and the Practice Incentives Program (PIP) Procedural GP payments highlights the importance of supporting the generalist and advanced skills of rural GPs. In considering what additional advanced skills the RPGP could be expanded to include, the  AMA advised that the program should support the development and maintenance of skills that serve the needs of individual communities.

The AMA also highlighted the need for streamlined credentialing and improved remuneration arrangements for GPs working both at the local hospital and in private practice to better support the maintenance and use of the GPs advanced skills.
