AMA Submission to Senate Inquiry into Issues related to Menopause and Perimenopause
In AMA's submission to the Senate Standing Committees on Community Affairs' Inquiry into the issues related to menopause and perimenopause, we call on the Government to take action. A National Menopause Framework is required and Doctors need to be adequately supported to provide the comprehensive, complex and individualised care needed for women.
The AMA acknowledges many women find it difficult to access the support they need and there is a profound disparity among the population according to socioeconomic status, ethnicity, age, disability, employment status and geographic location. Taking action on menopause and perimenopause will help empower women and enable a fairer system for all.
