AMA Submission re Surgical Assistants Draft Final Report
The AMA supports the recommendation that there should be no changes to the existing arrangements for billing for surgical assistants.
In relation to proposals for MBS remuneration, the AMA does not support non-medical surgical assistants, including nurse practitioners, being remunerated through the MBS for the provision of surgical assistant services.
