The AMA understands that gambling can harm the wellbeing of individuals and families in a range of ways including through adversely impacting mental health, physical health, financial security, and relationships.

Gambling is big business – with gambling losses in Australia being estimated at around $25 billion in 2018. The AMA welcomes the opportunity to closely consider this issue through the Parliamentary Inquiry into online gambling and its impacts on those experiencing gambling harm. Our submission to this inquiry was lodged on 11 November 2022.
