AMA submission on the eHealth PCEHR System – Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) Enforcement Guidelines 2012

The AMA submission highlights the need for an additional policy principle to apply to decision-making under the Act - the need to recognise the importance of the clinical relationship between the doctor and the patient. The AMA argues that the term ‘enforcement’ in this context is not appropriate. The guidelines should be supplemented by a user-friendly version, written from the perspective of the medical practitioners, practice managers and other staff who will actually use the PCEHR system.
