Submission

AMA submission on the draft National Primary Health Care Data Collection (NPHCDC) Data Governance Framework and draft Terms of Reference

The AMA's submission on the draft governance framework for the National Primary Health Care Data Collection highlights the importance of strong, enforceable safeguards to build and maintain GP trust. While we support the intent of the collection to strengthen evidence‑based primary care planning, we have raised concerns about unclear protections against commercial access, vague definitions of “public benefit”, and insufficient transparency around audit and accountability arrangements. The submission also emphasises the need for a clear value proposition for general practice, including practical, clinically meaningful feedback to support service planning and patient care. The AMA also sought representation on the Advisory Group to ensure the collection will support effective data driven policy and reforms.
