AMA survey wants your views on private healthcare

AMA members are invited to take part in an AMA survey on private healthcare to help shape AMA advocacy on reforming the system.

Your federal AMA has been advocating to the Australian Government for significant reform to Australia’s private healthcare system to ensure it remains viable into the future.

Last year we brought together stakeholders from across the sector at a summit in Canberra to discuss our proposed reforms, which focus on improving regulation to deliver better outcomes for patients, private hospitals, insurers, medical device manufacturers and doctors.

On the day of the summit, we also released a discussion paper: A whole of system approach to reforming private healthcare that details our proposed reforms and calls for a new independent Private Health System Authority.

Our calls for reform were also outlined in our Repeat Prescription for Private Health, released ahead of this year’s federal budget. The original Prescription for Private Health, released in 2020, led to the government commissioning an evaluation of our current private health policy settings. The AMA actively engaged in the consultation and we continue to work with the government on the recommendations.

We will be bringing stakeholders together again in October and leading a discussion on how we can drive reform.

We want you to tell us what concerns you most about the current private health system. Below is a link to a short survey where you can tell us your top concerns about the system.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Take the survey.
