AMA submission on the draft National Early Years Strategy

The Australian Government Department of Social Services is consulting on the latest draft of the National Early Years Strategy.

In a submission to the latest round of consultation on the National Early Years Strategy, the AMA reiterates that every child has a right to a safe and healthy start to life, regardless of the social and cultural determinants they are born into.

The AMA submission highlights the importance of communication between families, medical practitioners and other professionals working with children in their early stages of development. It also supports the strategy's focus on access for all children to universal healthcare and early childhood education.

The submission calls for the strategy to better consider the impact of climate change on child health, and for the goals of the strategy to prioritise addressing the increasing gap in developmental vulnerability, which is disproportionally experienced by children in socio-economically disadvantaged situations.
