Members invited to AMA webinar with Ahpra

The webinar will be hosted later this month and members are invited to submit questions ahead of time.

The AMA invites members to participate in an upcoming webinar with Mr Matthew Hardy, National Director of Notifications at the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra).

AMA President Professor Steve Robson will facilitate the discussion with Mr Hardy.

The webinar will provide a detailed overview of what happens when you receive a notification, how Ahpra works behind the scenes, and will discuss the threshold for mandatory notifications.

Members will be able to ask questions on Ahpra notifications at the webinar and may also submit questions ahead of time.

AMA members are also reminded of the AMA’s advocacy to Ahpra to update their social media guidelines for doctors.

According to the update, doctors have the right to post on social media and advocate for social causes, including making a political statement advocating peace.

Aphra said calls for leaders to protect health workers and health facilities from attack were unlikely to trigger an investigation along with criticisms of media coverage on wars.

The AMA believes the new guidelines should help triage complaints better.
