Introducing your AMA25 Conference Convenor
The AMA25 conference is being convened by Dr Sanjay Hettige.

AMA25 conference convenor and Chair of the AMA Council of Doctors in Training Dr Sanjay Hettige shares some thoughts on the forthcoming conference.
Q: What has been motivating you as you organise the AMA25 conference?
Medical conferences have a special place in my heart, it where you get to expand your knowledge, be inspired and most importantly for me reconnect with old colleagues and make connections that will last you a lifetime! Having organised medical conferences before there’s nothing quite like the buzz of setting a theme, having some of your wish list speakers confirm their attendance and seeing the program come together that you know attendees will appreciate. Looking forward to seeing all this happen with AMA 2025!
Q: Can you tell us about the conference theme and aims?
The convening team have thought long and hard about this one and we think we’ve landed on a theme that will resonate with all doctors. Currently it feels like our profession is under attack from all sides and the sanctity of doctor-patient relationship is being eroded. Safeguarding the profession perfectly encapsulates that feeling and gives us the space to explore what ideas and actions we can bring to the table.
Q: What would you say to anyone considering attending the AMA25 conference?
Having attended many medical conferences before I know that it’s a big commitment of your time and money and you want to make sure both are well spent. We’re putting together a program that I know will tick those boxes. Not only will there be speakers that leave you feeling inspired there will also be panel discussions and workshops which touch on ideas and skills that are important to expanding your horizons in medicine and what’s on the edges. Last of all our social program will make sure you’ve got ample time to connect with all your colleagues and hopefully make some new ones!
Q: Any final thoughts?
I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone in Adelaide, and providing more updates on the conference over the coming months.
