Government renews funding for medical mental health initiatives
A message for AMA members from Drs4Drs.

We know that doctors experience physical and mental health problems just as their patients do. However, with long working hours, pressure to perform in the workplace, in training programs and exams, doctors can be even more susceptible to suffering from stress and burnout.
The stigma around mental health problems in the medical profession needs to be addressed urgently, to ensure a healthy workforce — from medical students to senior doctors.
Drs4Drs is excited to share that the Australian Government has renewed funding for two of its programs focused on mental health and wellbeing of doctors and medical students.
The program areas include the development of an action plan to reduce risk to mental health, improve safety and wellbeing in training or work environments. They also include the provision of a free and confidential national telehealth counselling service.
And remember, help is just a phone call away. Drs4Drs is always here for you and connects you to free, confidential, 24/7 health advisory services over the phone, supported by GPs, psychologists and other specialists trained in doctors’ health.
