Vaping reforms begin

With the first stage of the federal government’s vaping reforms beginning this month the government is providing information and a webinar for healthcare providers.

The first stage of Australia’s vaping reforms came into effect on 1 January. Under the new laws, the importation of disposable vapes are now banned.

Doctors and nurse practitioners can now prescribe therapeutic vapes for smoking cessation without applying to the TGA for pre-authority or approval through a new Special Access Scheme C pathway.

Details of the reforms are available on the TGA website.

An overview of the changes will be covered in an upcoming webinar next Wednesday (17 January) with Dr Bridget Gilmour-Walsh, Principal Legal and Policy Adviser for the TGA.
