RACGP report confirms dire need for Medicare funding
Australians are spending longer with their GPs as their healthcare needs become more complex — according to a new report — underscoring the urgent need to invest in general practice.

AMA President Dr Danielle McMullen attended the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners’ (RACGP) launch event for the Health of the Nation report at Parliament House on Tuesday.
The report shows GP consultations are now nearly 20 minutes on average — a sign that today's patients have increasingly complex needs and require more time with their GP.
These findings confirm the urgent need for increased government investment through Medicare to support longer GP consultations — the key message of the AMA’s Modernise Medicare campaign.
