Doctors mourn the loss of Professor Dennis Pashen

The AMA honours the memory of Professor Dennis Pashen, a passionate and dedicated rural generalist who sadly passed away last week.

The AMA and the wider medical profession are mourning the loss of Professor Dennis Pashen, a dedicated and much-loved rural generalist who passed away last Thursday.

Doctors across the country are remembering Professor Pashen for his passionate advocacy and decades of service in rural generalist healthcare.

Professor Pashen was a founding member of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and a former president of the Rural Doctors Association of Australia.

AMA President Professor Steve Robson said few people could match Professor Pashen’s tireless advocacy for rural medicine.

“He inspired many GPs and rural generalists and his presence will be sorely missed,” Professor Robson said.

“I have no doubt Professor Pashen’s legacy will be felt throughout the country’s medical profession, especially in rural and regional Australia where he committed so much time to helping improve health outcomes for those communities.”
