Changes to the Award – Right to Disconnect

The Fair Work commission has now added Right to Disconnect terms to all Modern Awards as a result of the new laws introduced on 26 August 2024.

In summary, changes to the Fair Work Act 2009 created a formal workplace right that will allow employees to disconnect from work outside their usual work hours. These changes commenced on 26 August 2024 for non-small business employers (more than 15 employees) and will commence on 26 August 2025 for small business employers (less than 15 employees).
