New contract for GP Supervisors in North West Queensland

The AMA understands that Generalist Medical Training (GMT) will soon issue a revised contract for GP supervisors. This follows discussions involving the AMA, GP Supervisors Australia and GMT that sought to resolve concerns expressed by many local supervisors about a number of elements of the initial contract that had been offered by GMT.

These discussions were very positive and GMT undertook to address many of the concerns raised include intellectual property rights, indemnity, privacy, and restrictions on sub-contracting. The AMA welcomed the constructive attitude taken by GMT and is confident the new contracts will be much more reasonable and balanced.

In the longer term, the AMA will push the Department of Health to work with stakeholders to establish a standard contract template to ensure consistency and fairness in arrangements across the county.
