Australian Immunisation Handbook update

The Australian Immunisation Handbook 10th Edition 2016 Update is now available on the Department of Health’s Immunise Australia website.

The Handbook 2016 Update contains amendments to a number of chapters including changes to clinical recommendations, as well as clarifications and the inclusion of new factual information. The only major change was to the yellow fever chapter which states that ten yearly booster doses for yellow fever vaccines are no longer routinely recommended except for specified groups or circumstances.

A detailed description of all the amendments is available on the Immunise Australia website. The Department advises that, due to the number of changes, it is important to read all updated chapters in their entirety.

The Department has also advised that it is working on having printable PDF versions of each individual chapter of the Handbook available on the website to download. These PDF chapters will replace the printable PDF version of the entire Handbook.
