AMA members recognised in Queen’s birthday honours

Former Chair of the AMA Federal Council (1995-99), Dr Peter Arnold, from Sydney, was awarded the Medal (OAM) in the General Division for ‘service to medicine through a range of roles with professional organisations, and as a general practitioner’.

AMA President, Dr Tony Bartone, congratulated Professor Owler, Dr Arnold, and all doctors who received Honours for their dedication to their profession and their commitment to their patients and communities.

“The doctors honoured today are from all sections of the medical profession, and have been recognised for outstanding work in promoting the health of all Australians,” Dr Bartone said.

“The AMA is very proud of its members who have been honoured today, and we congratulate all the doctors and other health professionals whose contributions and achievements have received due public recognition,” Dr Bartone said.

AMA GP members and former members who received a Medal (OAM) in the General Division include:

• Dr Terence Francis AHERN

For service to medicine, particularly in the field of general practice.

• Dr Peter Chester ARNOLD

For service to medicine through a range of roles with professional organisations, and as a general practitioner.

• Dr Richard Frank WILSON

For service to the community through a range of roles, and to medicine.

• Dr Jane Helen GREACEN

For service to medicine, and to community health.

• The late Dr Keith Francis BECK

For service to medicine through a range of roles.
