AMA Indigenous Peoples’ Medical Scholarship 2016 – Applications now open
The AMA Indigenous Peoples’ Medical Scholarship scheme aims to help increase the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the medical workforce. Since 1994, the Scholarship has assisted over 20 Indigenous men and women become doctors, many of whom may not otherwise have had the financial resources to study medicine.
Previous AMA Scholarship recipients have graduated to work in Indigenous and mainstream health services, and some have spent time providing care in their own communities. The successful applicant will receive $10,000 each year for the duration of their course. To be eligible to apply, students must be currently enrolled full time at an Australian medical school and in at least their first year of medicine. Applications for the Scholarship must be received by 31 January 2016.
