Online access to the AMA Fees List is now available for members only.  This new website will allow members to look up either individual items or groups of items.  They will be able to select items or groups of items, view them, print them or export them to a CSV (comma separated variable) file for importing into their practice software.

This new service allows members access to the AMA List of Fees anytime.

Fair and Reasonable Fees

The Australian Medical Association (AMA) publishes this List of Medical Services and Fees (referred to as "the List") for distribution in Australia.

The AMA, having regard to legal advice as to the operation of the Trade Practices Act 1974, emphasises the following points:

• The List is provided for costing assistance and guidance only.  As such, statements to the effect that fees charged are AMA recommended fees should not be included in any accounts or accompanying patient information sheets.
• The amounts have been calculated by the AMA after careful study and investigation of practice costs and other relevant and material circumstances as being, in its opinion, fair and reasonable and appropriate for the services provided.
• All members are, of course, and should at all times regard themselves as being free, and indeed duty bound, to make their own judgment as to what fees they will charge for any service.  Members should satisfy themselves in each individual case as to a fair and reasonable fee having regard to their own cost experience and the particular circumstances of the case and the patient.
