The following comparison of some of the training requirements, conditions and costs has been prepared by the Workplace Policy Department of the Australian Medical Association to assist doctors choosing their vocational pathway in making their decision. The information included was gathered from public sources such as websites, annual reports and college newsletters. Each college then had the opportunity to amend and expand on the information that had been collated.
The information is current for training programs in 2006, but still offer doctors the opportunity to compare the basic training structures in place in each college.
Each college and training program is described individually over approximately 2 pages. At the end of the document is a one-page table that provides a brief overview of each college.
The AMA does not endorse one program over any others, nor offers any commentary on the content of training programs. The colleges are listed here in alphabetical order. For any inquiries regarding individual training programs please contact the college offering the course involved. Contact details are provided for each college.
