How can I work in Australia as a Medial Practitioner?

The Federal AMA is primarily a medico political organisation representing the interests of its members and advocating for better health and health care for the general public.  As such the AMA is not involved with migration, employment or training of doctors, recognition of overseas qualifications, nor with the examination for overseas-trained doctors, this is conducted by the Australian Medical Council (AMC).   Please see the AMC's website for further information:  http://www.amc.org.au.

The Australian Medical Association (WA) (AMA) through the AMA Locum Service (WA) in conjunction with the Western Australian Centre of Remote and Rural Medicine (part of the Department of General Practice at the University of Western Australia) provide short and long term medical support to rural doctors and the community of Western Australia.  Suitably qualified medical practitioners (usually doctors with postgraduate qualifications in General Practice Medicine) are recruited from throughout the world and sponsored through Immigration by the AMA Locum Service (WA).

Medical practitioners from WACRRM visit overseas countries during the year, outlining the program and detailing the opportunities of working in Western Australia. Mediventure provides the opportunity for both local graduates and overseas based doctors to experience a variety of rewarding medical experiences in rural areas of Western Australia. Further details on the program can be obtained from the Mediventure section of the AMA website at http://www.mediventure.com.au/ To register your interest in being considered for positions please email locum@amawa.com.au .
