AMA President supports Narrabundah primary school's breakfast program

AMA President, Dr Bill Glasson, will visit Narrabundah Primary School tomorrow to support the school's positive approach to good nutrition and the general health of students and their families.

"Narrabundah Primary School's breakfast program is a wonderful example of a creative approach to better learning outcomes for the school's 100 students," Dr Glasson said.

"It would make a great pilot for other schools around the country.  It's an example of how local communities and state and federal government agencies can help ensure healthy, resilient communities," Dr Glasson said.

"In addition to the breakfast program, the school's Kootara Well Program offers access to a general practitioner, from the local Aboriginal Medical Service; a social worker through the ACT Department of Education, Youth and Family Services; family support through Marymead; and a maternal and child health nurse from ACT Community Care.

Dr Glasson will meet informally with students at breakfast time, the school's principal and other people involved in providing health and other social services to the school community.
