The key benefits of ING Australia’s Professionals Life and Living Benefits Plan For Medical Professionals are briefly outlined below:

  • Life Benefit – a lump sum benefit of up to $1.5 million paid to your estate on your death.1
  • Critical Illness Benefit (must be taken as a Combined Package with the Life Benefit) – a lump sum benefit being half of your Life Benefit, in the event that you suffer a covered critical illness, that is, a heart attack, stroke, cancer, MS, paralysis, severe burns, chronic kidney failure, or you require coronary artery by-pass surgery.2
  • Terminal Illness Benefit – an advance payment of your Life Benefit if you are diagnosed as terminally ill and are not expected to live more than twelve months.
  • Needlestick Benefit – a lump sum benefit of $50,000 paid if you become infected with a Blood Borne Virus (BBV) as a result of an accident occurring during the course of your normal occupation.
  • Immediate Assistance Benefit – an additional $10,000 paid out to your spouse, partner or your estate, in the event of your death, to take care of any immediate financial needs.

Some exclusions and benefit limitations do apply. In particular pre-existing medical conditions occurring in the last five years are not covered, full details are contained in the Professionals Life and Living Benefits For Medical Professionals Product Disclosure Statement (PDS).3

  1. Life Benefit up to $1.5 million available only to persons aged 21-44, up to $1 million available to persons aged 45-54 years of age, and up to $500,000 available to persons aged 55-59. The Critical Illness Benefit is half of the available Life Benefit.
  2. The Critical Illness Benefit must be taken as combined package of benefits with the Life Benefit. It cannot be taken separately. Payment of the Critical Illness Benefit will reduce the Life Benefit and premiums.
